How often should I receive a massage?
As often as you can afford it - weekly massage is most effective.
How should I prepare for a massage?
Please shower if you can before a full body massage for relaxation and to help loosen up your muscles; remove jewelry, contact lenses, hearing aids and eyeglasses. Stretching beforehand also allows the therapist to get into your muscle tissue more easily.
How will the Massage therapist start the service?
The Massage Therapist will provide some information to the client before the massage begins. The intial consultation begins with an evaluation including a written client health history intake and a request for consent for the therapist to provide the bodywork.
How do I let the Massage Therapist know what I desire to obtain from the massage?
Before any session the Massage Therapist will discuss with the client the desired goal, any restrictions of the client’s physical activities, any areas that need emphasis and the order in which the massage will proceed (for example, face up or face down to begin with, etc).
What is the expected hehavior during the massage?
Professional behavior is expected from both the client and the Therapist. Illicit, suggestive or sexual advances are discouraged and the massage session will stop if any such behavior is exhibited.
How much clothing do I keep on?
Most massage/bodywork techniques are usually performed with the client disrobing to their underwear; you may, however, decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort. You will have the choice of oil, lotion or cream to be used, if applicable, to permit your muscles to be worked on without causing excessive friction to the skin. You are expected to advise the Therapist if you have any allergies to any of the creams or oils offered.
Will my body be covered up during the massage?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed. You will not be touched on your genitals or breasts.
How do I communicate any discomfort to the Massage Therapist during the massage?
You should communicate immediately with your Therapist if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Sometimes some amount of pain may be expected, such as tenderness over a trigger point when direct pressure methods are used.
What should I do after my massage?
You will be allowed to relax and get up slowly to get dressed. Drink plenty of water after the massage to help flush out toxins from the body.
How is payment made?
Payment is required before or at the time the therapy session is offered. The massage session will begin and end on time as scheduled. $50 charged for a 1-hr session and $80 for 1.5 hrs. Gift certificates are available. Discounts are available for 5 or more massages that are paid for ahead of time.
